The Lodge - The Perfect Venue

Failte Gu Glencanisp Lodge.

Along the Famous NC500 route, 1.3 miles out of the idyllic little fishing village of Lochinver, you will find a gorgeous old Victorian hunting lodge.

In 2005, the lodge was bought by the community of Assynt and is now run by an enthusiastic, local young couple- Sam and Rachael Hawkins.

Right at the heart of North West Highland Geo-park, the Estate encapsulates 44,000 acres of Community Owned Land. The lodge provides the perfect base from which you can explore the wild and rugged Assynt wilderness.

The path to the iconic mountain Suilven starts right from our front door and the views over Assynt are just breathtaking. White sandy beaches skirt the coastline just 5 miles away. So whether it’s Hiking, Biking, Fishing, Hunting - or even just relaxing you’re looking for... we can help you plan the perfect Highland getaway.

We want to ensure that your Scottish Highland retreat is everything you could dream of. With roaring log fires, a bar and evening meals available you can really settle in and make the most of this beautiful house.

We are very excited about the release of EDIE, a film featuring Sheila Hancock, climbing Suilven at the age of 83. For a sneaky preview, feel free to click on the link below:

Your Hosts

We would like to introduce ourselves: Sam and Rachael Hawkins, two chefs who are passionate about food, the outdoors, our community and our lodge.
We began working with the Assynt foundation in March, 2017.
Our objectives are to deliver a high standard of accommodation with delicious evening meals.
We are both local, Rachael is from Lochinver and Sam is from Ullapool. We have spent the last 8 years travelling for our jobs, from the French Alps to New Zealand, learning and adapting to new cultures and cuisines. We are delighted that we can now put all of the findings we loved the most into our new venture, back home here in Assynt.
